sad little sock monkey
sittin' all alone
wishin' for a little boy
to come and take him home
years ago a grandma's hand
stitched him from a sock
filled him full of lovin' stuff
and said his name was Doc
she gave him to an ailing child
who loved him til the end
then Doc was given to a store
placed in a second-hand bin
and now he waits with love to give
to mend another heart
to be held, to be hugged
and to be loved again
